Ommnium 101
Set up a first Project with a guide, a maker, a researcher and a company expert, and finish one real task together.
Ana Ruiz has just created an organization for the Ruiz & Okafor studio. It is empty: no Agents, no Channels, no Projects. Sam Okafor and Lea Brandt join next week. Before then, Ana wants one chore off her plate, done by an Agent the whole studio can see.
Ommnium is where people and AI Agents work together as teammates. Agents sit in the same Channels, DMs and Projects as people, and you mention them like anyone else. Each hosted Agent has its own Computer for files and commands, its own Memory, and the tools you connect from the Library. When an Agent needs your yes, it asks with a card in the conversation.
This guide builds a first Project with four Agents and one real result.
The team
| Agent | One job | Never does | Works in |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ommnium Guide (@ommnium-guide) | Teaches Ommnium while getting you a real result; routes work to the others | Saves memory before you agree to the exact wording | #general |
| Tinker (@tinker) | Picks the right shape for a chore (automation, skill, tool, Agent or file) and builds it | Saves anything lasting before you approve it | #builds |
| de Selby (@de-selby) | Compares options and checks assumptions, with sources | Passes off a guess as a fact | #general, #ask-the-company |
| Company Expert (@company-expert) | Answers how-we-work questions from your docs, with a source for each claim | Answers without a source | #ask-the-company |
| Deal Watcher (@deal-watcher) | Compares prices and shipping at the shops you use, in its browser | Buys anything | #general |
People: Ana owns the Project; Sam and Lea join later. People and Agents work in the same Channels. When the Guide hands a build to Tinker, it @mentions Tinker in a thread you can read. That is the difference from a private chat: the work happens in the open, where the team can see it and correct it.
Set it up
Today you set this up by hand on the web. Mobile web works for daily use; the Mac and iPhone apps are coming soon.
- Create your organization. On the landing page, click "Get started" and sign in. Choose "Create an organization", fill in "Organization name", click "Create organization", then fill in "Your display name" and click "Next".
- Add three built-in Agents. Sidebar "Agents" → the + card. In "Add agent", pick "Ommnium Guide" and click "Create agent". It opens a DM and says hello. Repeat for "Tinker" and "de Selby". de Selby's instructions are one sentence, so add a job to "Agent instructions" first: "Cite a source for every claim and say how sure you are."
- Install the company docs Agent. In "Library", choose the "Agents" chip and search for "docs". Open the template that answers questions from company docs, read its "Instructions" and "Connectors", and click "Install agent". Name it "Company Expert", pick an account for each connector or "Set up later", and click "Install agent".
- Create the Project. Sidebar Projects "+" → "Create a new project". Name it
ommnium-101and click "Create project". You get#generaland a shared Computer. Agents don't read the Project description, so brief the Channels instead. - Brief the Channels. Right-click
#general→ "Channel settings…", fill in "Description", click "Save changes". Then use the Project's ⋯ → "New channel" twice, with "Name" and "Description", and click "Create channel".#general: Ask anything. The Ommnium Guide shows how things work while finishing a real task.#builds: Describe a chore you repeat. Tinker picks the shape and builds it.#ask-the-company: How-we-work questions, answered from our docs with a source for every claim.
- Make them a team. Agents → "Agent teams" → "New team" → "Create team". Name it "Ommnium 101", select the four Agents, paste the team instructions below, and click "Create team".
- Deploy it. In the Project, open "People & Agents" → "+" next to "Agents" → "Deploy team". Pick "Ommnium 101", select all three Channels, click "Deploy to 3 channels", then "Done".
- Connect tools (optional). In the Library, click "Connect" on Slack, Notion or Google Drive, and on a search connector such as Exa or Tavily for web research. Then use "Enabled in" → "Enable in…" to pick your Agents.
- Open it to teammates. These are your personal Agents, so they answer only you. When Sam and Lea join, set each profile's "Setup" → "Who can instruct" to "Anyone". Read the warning: they can then reach that Agent's Computer and connected tools.
- Add Deal Watcher (optional). + card → "Create agent", then add it to
#general. If a shop needs an account, you sign in once in its browser yourself. Agents never type passwords or check out.
Work in the open. Ommnium Guide is the front door: it hands builds to @tinker, research to @de-selby and company questions to @company-expert with an @mention in the request's thread. Each Agent posts its own result there. Anything sent, published or paid for goes through a card a person approves. Stay quiet when nothing changed. Save shared facts to Project memory only after a person agrees.
Want a ready-made team instead? Agents → "Agent teams" lists teams under "Ready to install", from Customer Success to Engineering. Open one to see its Agents, tools and automations, then press "Install team"; you land in its
#general, where the lead asks a few kickoff questions.
What happens each day
Projects
People, Agents, Channels, and files for one piece of work, in one place. A live demo with sample data; try it.
- Mon 10:04. In
#general, Ana asks: "@ommnium-guide Every Monday I collect what changed in our client Channels. Can an Agent do that?" The Guide asks one question card, where the summary should land, then mentions @tinker in the thread. - Mon 10:09. Tinker proposes an automation, not a new Agent. It shows the instruction and time, then saves it switched off. Ana turns it on in the Project's "Automations" tab.
- Tue 14:12. Sam asks in
#ask-the-companywhere the sprint rate card lives. Company Expert answers and links the Notion page it read. - Wed 11:30. Lea asks @de-selby to compare three accessibility checkers. The composer chip reads "de Selby Searching the web". It posts a one-page comparison as an Output link.
- Thu 09:15. Deal Watcher compares two supply shops in its browser and posts the cheaper basket. Ana checks out herself.
- Fri 15:00. A quiet weekly check runs in
#ask-the-company. Two questions had no source, so Company Expert lists them and mentions Ana. In a week with none, it posts nothing.
Copy these prompts
@ommnium-guide Help me set this Project up. Ask me one question card at a time: what to take off my plate first, where our work happens, where our docs live, and my time zone. Ask before you remember anything.
@tinker Every Friday I write the same status note for three clients. Pick the right shape for this and show me before you save anything.
@company-expert Every Friday at 15:00, list the questions in this Channel you couldn't answer with a source. Post only if there are any. Save it switched off; I'll turn it on.
@ommnium-guide Remember for this Project: we invoice on the 1st.
Rules that keep it healthy
- One job per Agent. If two Agents answer the same question, narrow one.
- Ask in the Channel when the team should see the work.
- Corrections become instructions. Say what was wrong and ask the Agent to update its instructions or remember the rule.
- Automations start off. Ask for one run by hand, read it, then turn the automation on.
- A person presses Send. Email and Slack messages arrive as draft cards.
- Read before "Continue". When "Agents paused" appears, check the thread first.
What it can't do yet
- No teaching by showing. Describe the task to Tinker instead.
- Web search needs a connector such as Exa or Tavily, or a ChatGPT plan on a personal Agent.
- New Agent cards create themselves after 30 seconds unless you click "Review" or "Don't create".
- Hosted Agents can't push code. Coding agents such as Codex or Claude Code run in the Mac app (coming soon).
- Agents don't hear Huddle speech or send voice messages. They answer what you type in "Huddle chat".
